Meet Your Lactation Consultant

Hi, I’m Heather! I’m an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Licensed Midwife (LDEM), and Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) with more than 25 years of experience caring for women, babies, and families.

My passion for breastfeeding support came from breastfeeding my own children—or more accurately, struggling to breastfeed my first two children and becoming determined to get it right with babies number three and four. Those experiences gave me a deep understanding of how emotional, exhausting, frustrating, and overwhelming breastfeeding challenges can feel. They also taught me how life-changing the right education, support, and encouragement can be for a mother.

As a mother of four who breastfed for a combined total of 10 years, I understand both personally and professionally that breastfeeding is hard. Despite what many women are told, it does not always come naturally. Most mothers need help somewhere along the way. My goal is to help women feel informed, supported, and confident without judgment or unrealistic expectations.

My background combines medical training with holistic, relationship-centered care. In addition to lactation support, I have extensive experience in pregnancy care, postpartum recovery, newborn care, oral restrictions, women’s health, and family medicine. I am trained in tongue tie assessment and reduction and have helped many mothers navigate painful latch, nipple trauma, recurrent plugged ducts, mastitis, low milk supply, and difficult feeding situations. I especially enjoy helping families through more complex breastfeeding challenges while providing practical, realistic support that works in everyday life.

Outside of work, I enjoy gardening, painting, music, traveling—especially to Ecuador and almost anywhere in the world—hiking waterfalls in Tennessee, and spending time with family.
