Misty
I am a Certified Professional Midwife and Lactation Consultant. I travel a 30 mile radius from Salt Lake City for in person lactation visits, slightly farther for an extra travel fee, and telehealth worldwide.
I am the owner, head midwife, and IBCLC of Salt Lake Midwifery and Lactation. I see clients in their home, my office, or via telehealth to provide exceptional and connected midwifery and lactation care throughout the childbearing years. I maintain an intimate practice in which I take pride in knowing my clients well, meeting them where they are, and individualizing their care.
It is a wonderful honor to be invited to join you on your journey as you navigate the ups and downs of lactation.
I was drawn to working in the prenatal, birth, and postpartum realm after the birth of my first child in 2011. I knew there had to be a better way to get advice, find community, and transform into a mother than the experience I had had myself. I felt alone and confused! My longing for support led me to a deep dive into midwifery and I knew in my heart, soul, and gut that I’d be working with new families as they dove deep into parenthood. I spent the next years transforming not only into my role as a mother, but also into a midwife and lactation consultant. I was focused and dedicated to midwifery and lactation preparation, working closely with hundreds of people as they grew their families.
I have since grown my own family by 3 more children, all born in my home in Salt Lake City. I have been privileged to be able to nurse my children for a collective 12+ years so far (PHEW!) I have assisted many, many different families with their own lactation journeys as well. I love the raw, real, nitty gritty of the postpartum period and I am thrilled to meet you, hear about your hopes and goals, be a shoulder to lean on, and cheer you on!
When I’m not driving around the valley Midwifing and IBCLCing, I am most likely at my home in SLC, with my partner and 4 kids, playing outside or chatting on our porch.
I specialize in first time nursing experiences, prenatal lactation preparation, latching pain and troubleshooting, and supply issues.
What I'll bring to your lactation journey:
I bring a well-rounded approach to our visits that focuses on the big picture. I take history, goals, and the present situation at hand all into consideration while educating and discussing care plans. I love to empower parents with education and help them get to know their baby’s communication patterns. We will talk a lot about tips and tricks to make your experience more comfortable, enjoyable, and sustainable, while helping your family thrive.
